98% OF CLIENTS SURVEYED WOULD RECOMMEND EPILEPSY NEW ZEALAND
14 Jul 2010

A recent survey of Epilepsy New Zealand clients - people with epilepsy - showed that 98% would recommend our services to others with epilepsy.

The survey conducted in the early part of 2010 sought responses throughout the country, from clients who have accessed our services in the last 12 months, and showed that they were extremely positive about the information and support received through our trained Field Officers.

The sample audience identified the area in which they lived and received our services, and with a response rate of over 30% valuable feedback has been received by Epilepsy New Zealand’s National Field Manager, Verity Colgrave, signalling we are on the right track.

Verity went on to say that although the results were satisfying and are significantly higher than expected, there is always room for further improvement, and Epilepsy New Zealand Field Officers and the many volunteers who work with us need to ensure we focus on this and not take our minds off our dedication to help people with epilepsy.

In summary the results showed:
·                     98% would recommend our services to others.
·                     36% of our clients sought information, and 22% actual support.
·                     Our Field Officers attended 46% of enquiries personally in face-to-face meetings and 32% over the telephone.
·                     Our assistance to people surveyed was rated as 70% excellent and 27% satisfactory.
·                     38% of referrals came through health professionals and 27% through family and friends including other people with epilepsy.
·                     32% of clients surveyed were employed, an encouraging result showing that employment is in reach of many of those with epilepsy.
